It is obvious that the skinny little Brit girl with the force of a voice akin to that of Aretha Franklin, raw honesty of a Janis Joplin and depth of emotional evocativeness reminiscent to that of Nina Simone, was not just a person, but a channel of something much greater: A Truth. A Truth spanning generations. A Truth transcending divisions.
Fans from all walks of life echoed similar accolades about the phenomenon called Amy Winehouse:
“I love Amy Winehouse because she’s real, she’s the truth.” (1)
“…I was so confused by looking at her and then hearing what was coming out of her mouth.” (2)
“… she’s got an extraordinary voice … it’s heart and soul, she really means it when she plays.” (2)
“She is one of the greatest singers/ songwriters of our generation or any generation.” (1)
The 5 Grammy Winner with a Platinum Album who sang with the Rolling Stones and Tony Bennett, and gave a knock-out performance at Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday Celebration, wore the heart of humanity on her sleeve.
And yet the voice of soul speaking to masses spiralled down into a black hole leaving us with an agonizing emptiness in the pit of our stomach and the infinite inexplicable question: ‘Why’?
How could this happen to someone with so much?
The higher the rise, the lower the fall?
What is this co-dependent, yin-yang game between light and dark, high and low, creativity and destruction, success and failure and the list goes on.
What is this dualistic formula plaguing humanity?

“For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction,” stated the most influential scientist of the 17th-century, whose ideas became the basis for modern physics.(3)
”What comes up must come down”, is another famous quote from Sir Isaac Newton describing the universal theory of gravity.(4)

Why are good and evil inexplicably ever intertwined? And could this equation go as far as the subatomic physics phenomenon called entanglement, which Albert Einstein called “Spooky Action at a Distance”, where simplistically put: “… whenever the first particle is measured to be spin up on some axis, the other… is always found to be spin down?” (5)

Makes me think of the “Architect” in the Matrix whose purpose is to balance the equation of the Matrix (i.e. structure of reality) …he is limited in his ability to view things because he can’t see past the equation. (6)
But there is also a human intuitive program called the “Oracle” whose purpose is to unbalance the same equation, and perhaps go beyond the infinite looping of a subconscious mind set on autopilot. (7)

PS – final quote from Sir Isaac Newton: “Plato is my friend, Aristotle is my friend, but my greatest friend is Truth. (8)
